Music of Faith playlist
The listing of songs here represents a huge variety of music styles and eras spanning many years and generations. The temptation here, by some, might be to think “this is just church music.” Well, let me tell you that in this listing you not only have old hymns, but you have some classical music like “Finlandia – A Song of Peace” by Sibelius, contemporary Irish worship music by the Getty’s in the 2000’s, country rock by Glen Campbell, Rockin’ praise music of Lincoln Brewster, deep older ballads of the faith like “The Holy City”, the music of Rebecca St. James, and of course the era that bridged the older hymns to the contemporary beat based worship music, the music of the Maranantha Singers group from the late 80’s into the 90’s. My only complaint about this variety of music is that it is not used as much as it should be in churches today. I play this stuff whether in church or otherwise. Whether it is a reflective ballad, a serious hymn or victorious upbeat praise song, it is too beautiful to not play and you will find a lot of it here on this list!
The diverse styles and rich melodies in this faith-based song playlist, represents a huge variety of music that I have not only learned and played in various churches, ministries, and other events, but have been heavily influenced by in my composing and playing style. I am very thankful that there have been so many styles of faith-based music. It certainly cannot be stylistically stereotyped like perhaps 60 years ago or more. That is a good thing!
